Patent Troll hunters. Newegg FTW.

Unfortunately, the business--if you can call these trolls a business--are on the winning side as far as these cases go. Courts simply have sided with the trolls, by and large.

Wired Magazine did a story about how this basically started. At least with one such company.

Now it is a growth industry.

For those that do not understand what a patent troll is, basically, I buy a patent or secure one and then sue everyone I find who is violating my patents. Generally, companies settle rather than fight because it is cheaper.

There was a time when the Patent Office was rubber stamping patents left and right. Too many patents, too few examiners.

This practice must stop because it hurts us all.

Patents are there to help ensure that someone won't make money on your hard work. But These companies use patents to do just that. I really think there should be some clean up with patents like this. Use it or lose it, just because you can think of something that someone needs to use to get something done does not mean you should go out and patent it..
I'm gonna go patent the website format of every site and demand billions.

Glad newegg stood up and didn't back down, hope it sends a message to other companies like this.
