PC SD problems

I copied everything I could from the SD card to the PC under pictures. Of course not all of that is pictures but I can sort that out later. The problem is that it says some things are available only online, which the PC is not, and some files it claims are empty. It apparently isn't going to display a lot of pictures either. I don't know why it's doing this. The last time I hooked up the SD card (just that, not the phone) it automatically found and copied a whole lot of files. This time it had some weird message about how the card might have something wrong with it and that it should be scanned. I told it to do that, which took maybe a second, and then it said it was fine. I still had to tell it to copy (select all, copy to pictures). What's the problem?

Your micro-SD card has failed or it's become corrupted possibly? Was it formatted completely as FAT32 or something else, like adoptive internal storage for the phone? Because if it's the latter, a PC will have problems with that.

No, it's FAT32 just the way you guys said. There's no way I would take a chance on that craptive storage. It seems OK in the phone. It's just when I used it with the PC this last time it evidently didn't import anything useful although the files seem to be there. I still don't get why the PC didn't automatically search for files the way it's done every other time. I had to open the SD card and select all the files. Then I had to tell it to copy them to pictures. As I said, they're not all images but I figure I can take care of that later. I think some of them are mp3s. Can the PC play them from pictures or will I have to move them to a different file?

Who said? Because I didn't know that.

FWIW I've always turned that off myself, and I'm pretty sure it's off by default on Windows 10. Because quite frankly I think it's dangerous.

This is from a thumb-drive that's been in one of the school Windows computers, and I wouldn't want a system that automatically loaded anything from it.

Basically there's some worm or virus on the school PCs that turns folders into 1.2MB EXEs and replicates itself...Nasty! One reason why I always use a Mac or Linux now.

It should work, and be able to copy, move or play everything, Are you sure the micro-SD isn't starting to fail, as they can and do wear out without warning. How long have you been using it?

I got it new with the phone, less than 2 months ago. The PC is mine, unshared, thank goodness. I got it used, reconditioned, and it runs Windows 8.1. I want to get Ubuntu for it. I think that might work better with an Android phone and/or sd card.
