Help PC see Kindle fire HD as DRIVE

When I connect my HD to my windows PC, I see a media device, and I can transfer files.

However, every other device (kindle fire 1st) maps as a system drive.

Syber system good sync will not sync unless it see a drive letter.

Is there a way to change the mapping so it shows as a drive.
I am rooted, but this problem was before and after root.

This may be an ICS/JB characteristic. Both my ICS and JB devices respond without drive letters when connected to my Win 7 PC unlike 2.x devices. The KFHD is ICS based I believe while the KF is 2.3.

I thought that when you plug in the Kindle, it automatically assigns it a drive letter and keeps the name of your device, so its easier to identify when you open and explorer window.

At least that's the way it works for me.

The following shows major changes versus Android OS versions.
Android versions comparison | Comparison tables - SocialCompare

You will notice that "Media sync from SD card" is listed in Honeycomb version 3.2 so it applies to OS 3.2 and later. My understanding of of "Media sync from SD card" is that it will not be seen by a PC as a drive but like a MP3 player i.e. like my Sony S545 MP3 player which does not show a drive letter when connected to my PC and for which only media files are transfered. I may be wrong in my understanding of the information but it matches the response of my android Froyo, Gingerbread, ICS and JB devices.
