PC <--USB--> Android <--wifi--> LAN : is there a (free) app for that?

It's not that I'm cheap...okay I am cheap...but I only need to use this 2 or 3 times over the next few weeks.

To clarify, I'm looking for an app that essentially turns the phone into a usb wifi adapter, kind of like what this does.

I believe PdaNet will do this if all you want is the web from your wifi network. (as in, it'll let your PC share the internet connection from your phone, whether it's wifi or 3G)

Unfortunately PDANet doesn't quite do it. At best, it emulates a proprietary adapter, but even then, it requires software on the PC as well as on the phone. Worse yet, it appears they don't have said software for Linux.

Well there's not going to be any way of doing this without installing an app on the PC. The PC will detect the phone as a phone (of course) when you plug it in via USB, and not as a network device.
