Mantano Reader and ezReader both can do this.
But Mantano does it a little bit better IMO

I don't think there is any. Free apps almost always means ads, unless they also sell powerpacks or add ons.

even for MS Windows there are marvelous freeware!

Android is free not the apps, but would you spend hours or days making an app, updating it every month, working hard on it for free? Would you work for free? The developers make their apps to earn money, not to give it away.

MS Windows have free apps because the sites where these apps come from have ads. They have alternative sources of earning. Or their apps include the installation of other apps as ads (ever notice some free windows apps the installation asks you if you want to install some other program? They earn from those "ads" too).
