PDF shortcuts not working...

Hi, I have an HTC Sensation (which I'm still finding my way around). I have added some shortcuts (to pdf files) to a couple of the homescreens, using File Expert. The files launch fine from File Expert, but don't do anything when I press the shortcut icons.

I'm new to smartphones so I'm probably doing something really stoopid, but any ideas please?
 
I use EStrongs File Manager for this without problems :)
Choose in EStrongs the pdf file, long press on file name, choose shortcut and the file's link icon appears on the home screen ... voila

That's exactly the method that FE uses. It's just that 'clicking' on the resulting shortcuts has no effect.
