Pending Lollipop Update

Noticed that Verizon has pushed out Lollipop to my S5. Going to wait until they force me to apply the update. I did so on my Nexus 7 and I hate all of the white notifications and the lag it introduced.

SM-G900V still running Android 4.4.4.

Actually, I think you can put it off forever if you want.
I turned OFF these two files. Config.updater and Samsung.updater

Then I made sure that System Updates is via WiFi only, and now I never turn on WiFi anymore. For me, it is a non-issue as I'm retired and use a desktop computer all day.

Now, if the ugly demon happens to get onto your phone, and you see a message about accepting it now, or delay it, press the Power Button and select Power Off.

Read this post about how to remove said upgrade file, and problem solved for a while.

* Lollipop Update delay by clearing cache 3 times *****

Note, I am still on 4.4.4 and plan to stay that way..... unless Verizon can provide a fix to the mess they made with the current release.

Okay. I turned off both of the updater apps in Applications.

I cannot find where to change the System Updates via WiFi only setting.

Thanks.

Hi, go to "Settings", scroll down to "About device", touch "Software updates", and it should be the last selection, make sure the box "Wi-Fi only" is ticked. Phil

I cannot find the check box you are referring to in "Settings", "About Phone". Verizon must have removed that option. Thank you for your reply nonetheless Phil.

I'm afraid that that is not available on the Verizon, G900V, firmware philayl. I believe that they have a separate System update underneath the, "About device", in Settings, with no turn off feature!

I am wondering if my WiFi only updates was held over from 4.4.2 as it plainly shows in a greyed out screen "WiFi only" on my phone still yet. I can't change it now even if I want to.

My Galaxy S still gives me the option to choose WiFi only or OTA. It is still registered and in service. Gave it to the niece...
