Help People can't hear me sometimes

Hi everyone I have a big problem just got my new nexus 5 on ebay and everything is working great except one thing when I on a conversation sometimes people can barely hear me... And if I use speaker they hear themselves with echo...
I hear them perfect either way...
I read about this problem on the internet this is so frustrating....
I hope someone can help me here...

At the risk of sounding simplistic, is it possible that you are holding the phone with part of your hand covering the microphone (the right-hand opening at the bottom - I think)?
