Performance Issues, live wall papers and SGS?

This is a main question about device performance, What things slow down performance dramatically. I have a lot installed and stuff that syncs every 3 hours or so, but now my free ram seems to be 50-100mb. Doesn't the SGS have 512mb ram! How can this phone be slowing down. Live wallpapers slow it down a lot too much aswell, I tried to have the super mario one, and to achieve 25 fps, it killed performance. The sgs is one of the most powerful phones, where is my ram and processor clocks going?

Ahh ok, well that would explain a lot.
I will detail the processes that run on my phone after being on for a couple of hours, can you by any chance tell me what some of them do, and which ones are unnecessary.

Just because my phone is not handy to check, is this possible to do w/o root, or have you already roto-rooted that bitch?

Nope I intend to install baseband JG5 on it first, then do a root with Paul's rom at modaco, then I intend to install mimocan's custom kernel. Apparently it moves the software database to an external sd card, and this is a permanent fix for the lag. People who ran quadrant after this was done had higher scores than the N1 with 2.2 on.
