Perhaps the dumbest question of all time

I can't figure out how to turn the music player off other than powering the phone off. When I'm done, how do I tell it to stop?

Hello and welcome to the Forums! What phone do you have? You might try just hitting the "back" button to stop playback or "pause" in-app.

Just press pause and press the home button. The music player will go to the background and remember where you left off. You don't need to "close" it entirely.

If however you are anal about apps remaining in memory then you can download a task manager to manually kill Music (or goto Settings

No task managers!!

They are notorious battery drainers.

Like stated above, just pause the music and press the back button, or download one of the other players that have exit button.

It's entirely okay to run task managers, such as TouchWiz's built-in one, to kill specific tasks or free RAM. Just don't install the autokiller apps that constantly use CPU.
