Petition to handset manufacturers and carriers.

IOWA

Mr. Logic Pants
I'm thinking of drafting up a petition to send to phone manufactures and carriers to carry more hardware qwerty high end devices. What do you guys think? If we get enough steam, ill draft one up

I'm torn on phones with hardware keyboards. I like the idea, but so many have been poorly implemented with keys you can't differentiate by feel, poor placement, etc.

I prefer having the option of hardware kbs, as long as they're well implemented.

Just seems like more trouble than it's worth. Internet petitions always make me laugh because I know nobody takes them seriously. I think it would be more helpful to write in to the companies and let them know your thoughts. Maybe set up a website where someone can insert their name in a standard e-mail and send it to Motorola, HTC, Samsung, LG, etc. Sending a bunch of emails is a much more likely way of being noticed than sending a link to a petition.

Do you think a petition will do anything?
I seriously doubt it unless you can get a considerable number (hundreds of thousands) of people. Can't hurt to try though. The other potential issue, already mentioned above, is the subjectiveness of "well implemented". I'm sure Motorola thought the Droid's keyboard was well implemented.

Well htc makes good keyboards... so does samsung.
I would be willing to set up a website for this. I *do* have a private server =)

I'll wait for the petition to ban HW keyboards

Seriously? Why did you even post here. So what if you don't like hw boards. A lot of us do. It really shouldn't be your concern what other people buy. Some people.

Not a very good one. I didn't see anyone laugh. Maybe he should take notes from jeff dunham. Now he's funny.
