Help Phantom sd space and lost contacts, argh!

I have two problems. Sanyo zio with 1.6 (donut), my contacts keep dissappearing and when I delete files from sd card, the space is still taken. I deleted files from windows while connected by usb.

Also, can an external hard drive connect to my phone?

I suggest you factory reset... I think that's a known virus for the Android platform.
