Afternoon all,

I have just taken out Vodafone unlimited sim on deal. My current download speed is 5-10mbs which is terrible.

Can somebody tell me how do I find out if my phone is lte-a capable? Been thinking of a new phone anyways, this may get me to find one.

Regards James

I know Vodafone definitely supports 4G+ (LTE Advanced).

This was on my Chinese version Huawei Mate 10, from when I was in the UK last month. And it seemed to be very fast.

If your particular phone supports 4G+ (LTE Advanced), you shouldn't need to do anything. What phone is it you've got there, do you know for sure if it supports 4G+ or not? Some older devices may not

Using elephone p8 mini, my old phone, my s9 died.

No idea if it supports 4g+, I'd guess not. Is there a way to find out. Probably gonna get another phone t some point.

Regards James

Yep that's the one. Time to start looking for an upgrade.

Any suggestion on what phones are good these days. Had an s9, don't really wanna buy an s10 at silly prices at minute.

According to this very recent Android Authority article, it's either Samsung or Huawei phones.
https://www.androidauthority.com/lte-advanced-176714/

Samsung’s Exynos 9820 used in the Galaxy S10 series offers the firm’s own LTE-Advanced Pro/Gigabit LTE modem. This offers Category 20 speeds with up to eight band carrier aggregation, 4×4 MIMO, and 256QAM. In fact, Samsung claims downlink speeds of up to 2Gbps.

Huawei is another major player supporting LTE-Advanced and Pro/Gigabit LTE, starting with the Kirin 970 chipset in the Huawei Mate 10 series and P20 series. The Kirin 970 offers Category 18 support, while the Kirin 980 delivers a Category 21 modem.

There maybe others, like phones that use recent Qualcomm SoC?

My Huawei Mate 10 is Kirin 970 SoC.

Cheers. I'll have a look and see what's available for a decent price. Find it funny even galaxy s8 are going for silly money on places like ebay.
