phone contacts to goole acount

Ok, so I just got my first android phone. Now how do I take the roughly 200 contacts that I imported from my sim and turn them into google contacts?

You need to export them as CVS (or a google type of contact list) and then import into google contacts.

Not sure how to do it though, but that would be the method.

any phone should be able to create a vcard file (.vcf) from your contacts

get that file on your computer, log in to your google account, browse to contacts and you'll see an import link in the top right corner

well, here was my over all process:

I had already coppied contacts from sim
So I had 1 set on sim, 1 set on phone
I then exported to sd card
I then imported back from sd card making sure to select google contact as the new location
then in "people" selected view, then only sim and deleted all
selected view again changed to only phone contacts and deleted all
now I have only 1 set of cantacts with no duplicates and they are all google contacts
Its nice how they auto sync with your google account on any comp

ah, i was under the impression you still had your contacts in your old phone

I used the ole copy to sim trick
