Phone crashed - photos/videos missing

At my son's school this morning and videoed his performance and took a couple of pics. Phone crashed after taking them. I get home to review the video and it's gone. Looking through my gallery I lost all pics and videos since Jan 4th. Is there *any* way to recover them?

I see all photos/videos on Google photos....with the exception of the ones taken today at his performance. They weren't backed up there yet. I believe my settings are such that the storage location is my SD card. If there's a way to recover anything there.

Getting back to your S10 Plus, does it crash frequently or was this more of a one-off event?
One off...if it's crashed before, it's been just once since I've had it. I was quickly switching apps, to video, etc, I think I was attempting too much too quickly and it crashed.

That's good to hear you were able to find those lost files. Appears to be just a 'really bad timing' kind of thing.

thaKing How did you recover them from the SD card?
I don't recall the exact steps, but I used my pc and card reader. I used windows explorer and Bridge to browse the card's folders. I was able to find them that way and move them to the appropriate folder and make a backup. There was one corrupt image in the folder that caused files to be inaccessible (if I remember correctly). Removing that file fixed it all.

So I did not do anything special, really. If using a pc and browsing doesn't help there are many card recovery tools available that might help. Good luck!

Thanks I appreciate it. I don't have a separate SD card, just the internal one in the phone (if it comes with one). I have seen those recovery software but it requires rooting the phone which I know nothing about

I see. I always save items to an external card, makes it easier for backing up, recovery, etc.
