Phone does not light up when getting a message

Hi

I have just moved from an iPhone to the S6, so slowly trying to figure things out.
I have set my notifications to not show a preview when they come through, but what I am finding now if that when I get a notification/message my phone does not light up when I get the pop-up, just the LED light flashes. Is there a way you can change this so that the phone lights up when I get a message, this is useful when I am sitting at my desk, so it captures my attention, the LED light does not do this, so I am often unaware that I have a new message.

The only one that lights up the way that you want it to is the s6 edge. The regular s6 only has the LED notification lights.

If your talking about text messages my s6 does light up when I receive one. Not sure where the settings are to control this.
