Phone Donations

I now notice that when I buy a new phone there is a little plastic bag that you can put your old phone in & send it to wherever for 'recycling'. Since I'm not much of a "Green living" person I would much rather donate it to someone here who could use it for study or what have you.
I know people have had to have bricked thousands of phones trying to figure out how to root them among other things. Trial & error... and lots of it I can just imagine. So I'm wondering if anyone would be interested in wanting my (or anyone's) old phones for testing purposes? I'd much rather give to someone than see it go into a pile of rubble.

What type of phones would be useful for testing?

What do you think?

Some places collect and refurbish those for those in need - like homeless women and families. Or battered women. The phones will call 911. I'd check on what the donation is actually used for.

To date I have donated roughly 16 phones to the shelters. I feel EVERYONE should have a way to call for help at ALL times. I was just wondering if someone could use android phones that were broken not bricked or what have you.

Plaigh that's a grand idea I could use an extra phone or phones for experimental reason. Like trying things on a non working phone compared to my phone that works. Also be a good way to learn rooting and so many other things without having to worry about things like oh if I do this will I mess up my phone. You wanna donate ill take a few off your hands so I can learn more about rooting and Android.

You got it... I'll even take up a collection from my friends.

Where I live, people can donate their old phones to the sheriff dept.. They in turn, give them to women of physical or sexual abuse who otherwise can't afford or have one, since you can still call 911 on one even if it's not activated.
I've donates about 12 or so over the years. Just something to think about.
