Does anyone have good/bad thoughts on dslr cameras? I am looking for a new one but can not decide what to replace my 35mm slr with. I am looking at a Sony a33, Canon t1i or Canon rebel xs.

Well I, for one, am partial to Canon. I'm on my third Canon DSLR now (by choice) and had several Canon 35mm cameras before it. Canon's optics are good and, in most cases, interchangeable.

With the Sony specifically, my question is how much do they truly know about DSLR? Sony is a huge company that does a bit of everything. I've had a Sony Camcorder; and a couple of the small Sony Webbie camcorders/cameras up until a few months ago. The first got stolen and the second was sold on FleaBay. The cameras had some good features but I disliked that they used proprietary memory cards (memory sticks).
