Is she sure it's sleep and not her covering the top right sensor with a hand or finger? There's a proximity sensor that is supposed to turn off the screen when it senses it's inside a pocket or something. It's never been reliable on mine, but that could be what's happening to her.
mine acts up every now and then, meaning it dims real low even while being outside in the bright sun.. so maybe thats what your daughter means by going to sleep.
