Help Phone is charged but battery displays 0%

A few nights ago on new years eve my phone (Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3) started acting up, it randomly shut off so i turned it back on figuring i must've done it by accident for and for a while my phone worked fine but when it hit around 54% it shut off again and when i booted it up the battery gauge on the top right displayed 0%, i didn't have my charger so i figured i'll let it die and ill charge it when i get home. over the course of the night i kept checking on the phone and even after 5 hours of it saying 0% it didn't die. i ended up spending the night at the my friends and since they use i phone i didnt have a charger so i let it sit over night. when i woke up it was still on and proceeded through the day as normal and my phone stayed on as if it normally would. Eventually the phone died (it did not go into battery saver mode like its supposed to when it hits 15%) and i picked up my charger and let it charge. when i plugged it in the alert light came on to show that it was charging. I let it charge for about as long as it would take to reach 30-40 before i had to go but my phone still displayed 0%(when i unplugged it the alert light stayed on as if it was still plugged in) my phone has been working normally aside from the alert light being constantly on even without alerts and the battery gauge showing 0%.i've tried restarting it a number of times and clearing the cache, i also tried to use the battery calibration app but it wont detect that my phone is charging (my phone wont display when its charging on the gauge). ive had the phone for less than a year and i know that i did not get any liquid on it or drop it, the problem just kind of came out of the blue. i dont think it was cause by over heating as it was never ot enough to have over heated and ivve never had an issue like this from over heating. Ive included as much information as i could, i hope someone can help me solve this issue though its not the most urgent this as the phone still works. the only reason i really care is because when im out i have no way to know if my phone is going to die (which it did yesterday and i couldnt charge it until i got home) again i have an alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 and ive had it for less than a year.

I have the exact same problem on the same phone as yours. I have it since a year and a half and since this afternoon the battery shows 0% and I cant tell if its charging since the led doesnt light up.

I've tried to reset it to factory mode aswell as clearing the cache, both didnt work.

Please tell me if you resolved your problem, I'll probably return mine since it's still under warranty.

Same problem with the Alcatel Idol 3 of my son:
I changed the battery, reset to factory default, cleared the cache, but nothing worked: the phone always prints 0% or 1% battery even after days of charge and it stops immediately when the charger is unplugged.
And of course, I tried with different wires and different charger ... and the Ampere application shows nothing bad.

Any ideas?
Thanks,

Fully discharge the battery until the phone shuts off by itself.

Then recharge it.

To hasten the discharge process, leave the screen on with maximum brightness and turn on bluetooth, GPS, and wifi.

Let us know if this resolves the problem.

Several people reporting the same thing with this phone over the year, so could be a general issue with the Idol 3, that Alcatel(TCL) needs to rectify possibly.

As said above, the phone powers off as soon as it is unplugged. So yes, I tried this, and no, it does not solve the problem.

SOLUTION: I have same problem on moto-G6 running Android-9. My phone was on charger all night but showed 0% in the morning.. However it appeared to have some charge as i was able to make and receive phone calls and txt. The battery status icon was just stuck on 0%.

Here is FIX that worked for me.

#1) If your phone is working but shows 0% battery all the time proceed to #2

#2 Hold down the (vol-) + (Power) buttons until you see bootloader screen. (Note: do NOT release buttons until you see bootloader menu screen. Also do not worry if camera takes a screen shot. Just keep holding (vol-) + (power) buttons until bootloader screen appears).

#3 Use (vol-) or (vol+) button to change menu option to [Qcom]. [pressing (vol-) or (vol+) scroll through options]. I pressed (vol-) 7 times or (vol+) 3 times to reach [Qcom]. Your phone maybe different. Just Stop when you see the [Qcom] option.

#4 Press (power) button to choose [Qcom] option

#5 Phone should reboot automatically and Battery Icon will display correct %

I Hope this method works for you.. it worked for me. GOOD LUCK :)
