Phone Locator Apps w/ GV

I just tried one of the phone locator apps (Lost Phone) and it did not work with texting through Google Voice. Can I assume that all such apps will not work texting with GV?

I do not have a texting plan and I instructed my carrier to block any SMS. I us GV for all my text messaging. I'm assuming that texts coming through GV don't have the same system level capabilities that these apps need???

my guess is, that won't work. When those SMS are sent out, they probably use the phone's GPS to locate the phone. When GV sends an SMS, it's just using the data service. I don't see a way to configure the settings to find the phone. Otherwise, you'd be able to find your computer too!
