Root Phone: No Service and Continually Rebooting Itself

RELiG

Newbie
Phone: Droid Maxx (Less than year old)
Rooted: Yes
Custom Rom: No
Carrier: Verizon Wireless

For the past 2 days my phone has rarely had service and has probably rebooted itself over 40 times. Ive never had this problem before with rooted devices.

I had just put some dates into my Calender and downloaded a Philadelphia Eagles football App. The app has since been deleted, but the problem still persists.

Should I just go ahead and try to do a factory reset?

Ask me anything about the phone or my problem and Ill try to answer.

Went ahead with a Factory Reset and made matters worse.

The first 5 times I attempted it, I was receiving the same message. "This device needs a SIM card". So, just to try something different I took out MY memory card from it. It factory reset successfully after that.

Now, with my card still out, I still have no service AND it continues to reboot itself.

At first I was thinking there may have been a problem with my card, but like I said. My cards out, factory reset has been performed, and the chief problem still exists.

Guess Ill be taking my phone in on Saturday

U will need to completely un root your phone and remove any trace of the root before you take it in since rooting your phone voids any warranty

Sounds like you may need a new SIM card. Verizon will provide one for free...perhaps even send you one by mail, (so you can avoid unrooting??) call tech support tell them you are getting the error message saying it needs a sim card...

Yes I understand that, but in the state its in, I cant. WHEN it does show I have service if I try and use my phone it will restart itself. Cant text, call, or download apps. As of now my memory card is out of it, but its already been restored to factory settings. If it is still rooted, Im not sure what to do about it.

I hope its something as simple as that. I dont know if Im rooted or not. I was, but then I restored back to factory. I have dropped the phone, without its case probably like 4 or 5 times. Luckily I havent cracked the screen.

FDRing won't unroot your phone.
I dont know what Im going to do then. I cant use my phone. Where service bars are my phone just shows the "Prohibited" sign. When it DOES show I have service as soon as the phone recognizes the the signal is being used it turns itself off

Just a silly question, but have you taken the sim card out and reseated it? Maybe it has just gotten where it is almost seated in there, but not all the way?

Yes. I read about that when I did a google search, but the problem still remains.

Ive never really unrooted a phone before. Is there a way I can do it through my computer without having to have access to phone? Like apps and phone usage stuff...

I think the only way you could do that would be to do a full SBF. Which under the circumstances may not be the worst idea ever...
