Phone not charging when connected to computer

Dinner

Newbie
Hey guys,

My droid razr is set to pc mode and wont charge when connected via usb to my computer. I know it has to be in charge mode or something but have no clue how to change the settings so it will charge when connected to my computer...

I need help asap as I need my phone all day today.

Thanks!

When its connected pull the notification bar down. There it will say "select the way you connect to a computer" or something like that. Then select charge only from the pop up

the problem is that the PC usb port doesnt have enough amperage to charge the battery in the Razor. I used to charge my Fascinate with my computer but the computer will not work with the Razor.

Yeah, I noticed this early on, as I would plug my Razr into my PC at work and, after 2 hours it would not really budge the battery at all. Good call, Zaphod. You're a guy who really knows where his towel is.

Sorry, but I really must disagree here because that is completely not true. I have been using my USB port on my computer to charge my phone everyday at work for months and it charges just fine. Yeah, it takes a little longer to charge, but it charges nonetheless. In fact, I have it set to never turn off when it is charging and it still charges despite the display being on the entire time. There is plenty amperage to charge the Razr.

To set it to charge, slide the notification bar down and and select USB Connection, then select Charge Only.

It will vary from computer to computer. The USB ports on some computers, especially laptops, are only have a limited amount of current overall. The ports might not be able to supply the full 0.5 A (particularly if there are other devices plugged in as well).

Sorry, I answered a blanket statement with a blanket statement... you are right!
