Phone randomly rebooting, can I walk into Sprint and exchange for a $35 fee?

Regarding the new policy implemented a few months ago, can I just walk in and get a replacement for a $35 fee? I don't have TEP but from what I've read, non-TEP people just need to pay that fee for any kind of warranty work done. I just want to know what's possible or not before I walk in the store.

the 35 dollar fee is for physical repairs. you are talking about a software related issue. if they cant fix they will send it to HTC for warranty repair. the TEP insurance is a must for a phone of this precision.

i wouldn't say this is software related. i went through the random reboot thread on here and none of the fixes have worked. new ROM, hard reset, trying different batteries, etc.

so the 35 fee is only for replacing broken screens, speakers, etc? :/

Odds are they will do a hard reset on your phone & send you on your way, telling you everything has been fixed. Odds are even greater it won't fix the problem!

Factory reset...
I believe they are one in the same but possibly not. They take your phone back to how it was when it came out of the box. You lose apps, widgets, messages & anything else not saved on your SD card.
That seems to be Sprint's answer for everything...

the reboots got so bad i walked into a Sprint store, they weren't able to replicate the problem for 1 hour yet 5 minutes after I walked out of the store it rebooted. It clearly states that i have to pay $35 without TEP. Here's a copy/paste of the verbage from Sprint:

How much will it cost?

When enrolled in Total Equipment Protection (TEP):
  • ?$0 for all in-store repairs and/or exchanges.

  • $50 or $100 non-refundable deductible applies depending on device model for loss, theft, or physical or liquid damage per approved claim filed with the insurance administrator, Asurion.

When not enrolled in Total Equipment Protection (TEP):
  • $35 for wear and tear, physical damage and mechanical or electrical failures.

  • Upgrades or new device purchases are at Suggested Retail Price for loss, theft or physical or liquid damage.

Now I just hope the refurb they send me won't have any problems.
