I'm currently looking at the Samsung Transform Ultra ($160 at Radio Shack) and the HTC Evo Design 4G ($230 at Radio Shack)

Note that there is no 4G coverage in my town. :( So I am basing my decission purely on the function and usefulness of the phone on a 3G network, all while keeping their costs in mind.

Here are some questions maybe some of you can answer...

~Which has better phone reception?
~What about battery life?
~How much better is the camera on the HTC?
~What major issues should I expect from each?

Any other comments or suggestions will be greatly apreciated.

Thanks!

What is your current phone? The Evo is nice but nothing it has will beat the physical keyboard. Unless you travel overseas and the dual gsm/cdma antenna appeals to you.

I currently have the Motorola XPRT. But I am having allot of trouble with it. PArticularly whhen trying to connect it to my computer. And yes, I have tried selecting Phone Portal and Phone Sync. I got it working a few weeks ago. But it seems to be having allot of trouble now. I'm starting to wonder if it is my 32 GB card. It was a highly rated class 10 card from NewEgg. I have replaced it with the stock 2 GB card that came with the XPRT. Gonna see if that helps over the next few days. Will keep you guys posted.

I have a Design. It fees nice in my hand. Solid build. Sleek usage of metal around the frame and the middle of the back. It is a nice phone.

I haven't used a Ultra but I've owned one. It is plastic all over. Not a great build quality...

The Design has no keyboard. The Ultra doesn't have GSM/CDMA antenna. The Design has a sleek look to it. The Ultra is bulky (as most other keyboard phones are). The Ultra did have some touch screen issues but that's mostly ironed out by the dev team. The Design has a locked boot loader. The Ultra has the (almost) unbrickability of Odin.

Did I mention that I have a Design? I'm partial to HTC. But if anyone says anything bad about my Prevail I'll punch them in the face!
