My new note 8 is constantly shutting off if I stop moving a screen, am reading something longer than 3 sentences. Pleas, what can I do to fix this?

Help Phone shuts off all the time

Have you checked that you havent got the auto restart option set to every day perhaps?
If not, factory reset, perhaps you have an app thats causing it to crash all the time, if you go into the phone optimization it tells you if there has been an app thats crashing regularly. If after reset you still get this hand it back.

A new phone constantly shutting off is definitely not right. Yeh try resetting it, and if that doesn't work, return it as faulty for replacement or refund.

Are you using a case? Is there an obstruction /burr/dirt/m'n'm at the power key?

Do you mean it fully shuts off or does it simply go black?
It sounds more like the screen times out too early. Go into settings/display/screen timeout, and change the time to longer.
