What "everything" have you tried? If you don't say then you will just get people suggesting all of the things you have done already.

Is the phone software modified in any way? Had anything happened, or was there any odd behaviour, before this began?

In the absence of further information the obvious things to try would be factory reset or reflashing the phone. But if, as you just posted, you cannot get it to power on at all then neither of those is possible.

If the phone won't power up there is nothing you can do apart from get it repaired (which won't be as easy at the moment). The one hope for a simple fix would be if the problem is that the battery has died: in that case a new battery would solve everything with no need for resets, reflashes or anything else. And from what you say it is possible that that is the problem - I can't say more than "possible", remote diagnosis on the basis of limited information is always tricky. For all I know it might be something terminal like a motherboard failure - the battery possibility is just the one thing that might fit the symptoms which you can do something about yourself.

One thing you could try is just leaving it charging for many hours and then see whether it will boot. Note that if the battery is completely dead the phone won't start even if plugged in: the phone cannot run directly off power supplied by the charger, it always runs off the battery (plugging it in only charges the battery, not powers the phone), so if the battery can't be charged (for whatever reason) the phone cannot start up.

i have tried charging the device, removing the battery, soft reseting and wipe the cache partion but still nothing happens also removing the sd card

I will try and leave i charging all day and see if it will not get stuck on the logo screen

can i try to flash with odin without losing my data i have seen videos on youtube

If it won't power up and stay powered then you absolutely don't want to attempt to flash the phone - if it shuts down in the middle you will be in a real mess (and if it shuts down while flashing the bootloader - which would be bad luck as the bootloader is small - you'll need specialist equipment to fix it).

it does power up and stay powered up it just gets stuck at the logo screen after booting up

Ah, that's not the impression I'd had from your second post, but I see that the text has been edited so maybe the original was less clear.

If it remains solidly powered then the battery isn't the issue. And if it is stable when powered you can try flashing it. I can't comment on data loss as I've never used Odin: with the phones I'm familiar with an official firmware flash will wipe the device.

i can't find out what firmware i have on my phone to see if i can use the same firemware i am using now

Does the bootloader screen give any clues?
Otherwise I'd say just use the latest for that model. The most important thing is to know exactly which model of S5 you have (there are rather a lot of them).

it says on the back of my phone made in viatnam by samsung

does that help

No, they all will be. If you know what country it was originally sold in that would (unless it's the US, in which case what carrier will be needed as well). But does it not have a label anywhere that gives the model number (I guess I'm the only person who keeps the boxes...).
