Phone Upgrade

I'm about to upgrade from a HTC Desire to a HTC Sensation (my first Android upgrade) and was wondering what will happen to all my purchased apps? Can i get them ported over to my new phone? Also, is there anyway to copy all my SMS's across too?

As long as you use the same gmail account to sync the phone you'll be able to reinstall all your paid apps without paying again.

The above app has a pretty good rating and looks like it would transfer SMS messages to the new phone. I have no first hand experience with it, so I can't vouch for it.
