Phone won't see SD Card

Hi,

I've just got a new HTC Desire. I initially bought a 1 GB SD card, which worked fine and still works fine. I then bought a new 8GB SD card with the aim of setting up A2SD on my phone. I formatted it using Minitool Partition Wizard

Primary: FAT32 5.47GB
Logical: Ext4 1.92 GB

I've tried various combinations of sizes and also using FAT rather than FAT32. However, I have been unable to get my phone to recognise it, it acts just as if there is no SD card in the phone.

My computer can use the FAT32 partition fine and also, when I boot into recovery mode I can mount the SD card.

Any thoughts?

I'd guess that it doesn't see a partitioned card. Format it FAT with no partition and see if it works.

Well, that worked, the phone can now see the card.

However, it doesn't really solve my problem as I need the partition for A2SD. Is it a ROM problem? I.e. do I need to flash a new ROM before it will be able to recognise a partitioned card?
