Phones construction quality

Ooops, the phone ran out of battery when I were typing [emoji23]

So it happens that my old HTC phone has a metal shield over the USB port. I wonder if all phones have it or it was courtesy from HTC?

Not all phones have it. The port itself is still soldered to the board though. The courtesy I see is that you can replace the charging board, which is a lot easier than micro-soldering and cheaper than replacing the whole board. Those screws in the shielding are what hold it in place, along with a little glue.

I think that without that metal shield I could have break the charging port long ago.

I have opened a couple of phones and tablets but none has an armoured usb port like this phone.
