Photo File Size Issue for Emailing

IHateMyTreo

So apparently there is no way to set a maximum file size in the stock camera app. Every shot ends up with a file size anywhere from from 4 to 12 MB on average, with no way to control it. And this makes it dysfunctional when sharing photos by email. I could easily get by with a file size of 1MB for almost all of these shots for email purposes. If only I could designate that in advance.

Any suggestions? Do I need a new camera app? Would that affect photo quality? Or a new gallery app that has the ability to reduce file size? Recommendations please?

TIA

I don't see an option to reduce the size in either the camera app or stock gallery app.
My file size per pic is in line with yours, most that I snap are in Auto mode & 4-6MB.
My guess is an aftermarket gallery app, especially if otherwise you're pleased w/the stock camera app.
I tried zipping a couple of pics to see if that reduced the size,it did, but, not by much about 1-2 %.
If you come across one that works for you, please share with us................ :thumbsupdroid:

Awesome find Kolio, thanks mucho. Works great so far. While it does require an independent operation, it is easy to use. When viewing the original photo in the gallery, access Photo Compress from the "share" menu, compress and then email it.
