Photo folders

I downloaded all my photos onto a sd card.

I created a folder called old photos and placed several folders within the old photos folder hoping it would just create the rood folder with the other sub folders within the root folder.

I use gallery and when I open it it shows all the sub folders. I do want to see all these folders, very confusing

is there a way to put folders within folders ?
 
If you do not want the system to scan your folder put a period in the front of the file name... the pics in those folders will not automatically be shown and you would have to specifically navigate to the folder to view the pics
 
I have a mac. when I try to remane .photo it says " you cant use a name that begins with a dot " . " because these names are reserved for the system.

also is there a file locker type app that can use space on my sd card ? they all default to the device memory ? is there a work around ?
 
I don't know anything about mac's but you could rename the folder from your phone.

And I sure there are some apps but I've never looked into any.
