Hello and welcome to Android Forums!

If you are using the stock camera app to take pictures, click on the settings icon in the app (looks like a gear in the corner of the screen) and scroll down on the menu that pops up to change the image resolution for the 8 megapixels (default) to something smaller. Image size will adjust accordingly.

As Luna said you can make the change in settings but be aware it will reduce the enlargement capability.
