I have uninstalled and reinstalled Viber on the affected phone, and rebooted the phone.
I have also carried out some tests with two identical phones, Samsung Galaxy S3, apart from Viber version, one V5.3.0, the other V4.3.1, side by side. Text (SMS) messages between the two are fine and, as expected, are sent and received almost instantaneously. Both phones show when the other is typing.
Push to Talk also works as expected between the 2 phones.
The problem only arises when trying to send a photo (MMS) from the phone with the latest version of Viber to any other Viber user.
I have checked various settings on the two phones and can find no obvious reason for this problem.
