Help Photos Sent by Extremely Slow to Load

Arrrgh. Sorry. Title should read "Photos Sent by TEXT Extremely Slow to Load". So much for my proof reading skills!

My wife has a Moto X that has an issue that has been bugging her for some time (since day 1, actually). Her Moto X is a first generation model, and she has installed any updates that have been available. I apologize that I don't have the phone available with me to tell you the exact software versions. The phone is not rooted.

Photos that are received by text are extremely slow to load. When she clicks on the box indicating a picture was received, she has to wait several seconds (perhaps as many as 15 or so) for the picture to appear. I have never encountered a problem like this on any of my Android phones. Pictures usually pop up in an instant.

Has anyone encountered this issue? Are there any fixes/tips/settings available for dealing with this? Will an app, such as Handcent, take care of this? BTW.... our carrier is Verizon.

Thanks you for your time!

I agree. It would not hurt to try switching to another SMS app (Hangouts already on the phone, or, from the Play Store, Google Messenger, Textra, Chomp, Handcent are all worth trying out) to see if that changes that behavior.

I'd also look in settings / battery usage to see if there is an app listed that might be draining a lot of SPU in the background.)

I'd try Textra - it will automatically limit picture file sizes. Verizon has a limit of 2 MB, but 1 MB is safer. You can change it in settings.
