So has anyone heard of any phones with a physical keyboard planned for AT&T soon? I'm really getting tired of the touchscreen keyboard lag on my Captivate and wouldn't mind switching back to the physical world.

I cannot say for sure, due to the NDA my source works under, but there may be in the very near future.



Another thought, I'm not the least bit happy with touchscreen keyboards. I absolutely despise them after years with a great BB physical keyboard.

Then I discovered Swpe pre-loaded on my Captivate.

What a great input method!

I now have it on all my Android phones and I can "type" without typing so to speak, so much faster. Gliding one finger over the keys to form words is super fast, easy and fun with Swype.

The trick is to take a few minutes to learn it, watch their short videos and suddenly it all makes sense. It took me less than an hour to "convert" and now I wouldn't use anything else.

Coming from an old Blackberry Curve, I missed the keyboard on the X10 and now my Dell Streak. Way too many missed letters, etc. Then my Streak was updated to 2.2 and with it came Swype. I have been in heaven ever since and would never go back to a physical keyboard now.

Thanks for the info guys. I've always liked Swype but spelling out words only for me to delete them because it doesn't exist in the dictionary takes me to the edge of snapping the phone. If I ever had to quickly type out information like an address or custom word, it would take me forever to type it out with Swype because it never liked actual typing. Throw in frantic typing and my apparent finger inaccuracy and I end up with a sentence finished in a record 5 minutes, not calculating errors while walking.

Like you guys had, I LOVED my BlackBerry keyboard. I just really hope a high end Android with physical keys will pop its head out. =/

I have never had any issues with the Swype keyboard, even typing out the words, it is a huge improvement over the stock keyboard. I find it extremely accurate, but then I also have a 5" screen, so maybe the keys are much larger than some of the smaller devices. The stock keyboard, I would have to correct 50% of my typing, it was really bad.

But, when I use Swype as it was intended, I feel like it is reading my mind. Even when I don't get close to the keys, it figures out the words for me.

Motorola Flipside has a GREAT keyboard. The phone is limited, though, for many techies. I love it.
