Help Pictures downloaded from text messages get deleted

I cant seem to find anything like this at all anywhere, anyways, my girlfriends epic 4g touch keeps deleted the pictures she has downloaded from text messages every time she restarts the phone or connects the phone to her computer and then disconnects it

any idea?

anyone encountered this before?

Is she using stock messenger?

When I purchased the phone at launch and was forced to use TouchWiz, I remember the stock messaging app prompting me to save each mms file as "image2." I quickly noticed that in order for the phone to store new pictures I needed to rename each individual mms. If that does not work, I would try a 3rd party SMS app (GoSMS pro or Handcent should suffice).
