Help Pioneer car stereo not displaying correct song when playing from Android phone.

I have a Pioneer FH-X720 radio in my car. I have a Motorola Droid Turbo phone and I mainly use Slacker app for radio. Typically when I pair the phone with my radio and play the first song, it will display the correct name of the artist for the first song and from then on, it will display that same artist and song title for every song after. This worked when I first got the radio installed and then quit. I'm assuming it's a problem with the phone and not the radio. The radio is just displaying what it's told or what it last was told and the phone isn't updating to the radio what it's playing.

...Apparently the Pioneer engineer basically said that had to buy a new head unit, that was completely Android compatible.
