I was using Google chrome watching a basketball stream, had to press sketchy links and then in the morning I woke up to a bunch of chrome notifications which didn't look right... I don't have anything in my downloads folder..

Pixel 2 has a virus?

That's a long way short of evidence to suspect a real malware infection (I won't use the word "virus", because a virus is a specific class of malware, and one that doesn't exist for the Android platform).
It's hard to say more on the basis of very limited information (a bunch of Chrome notificiations which "didn't look right"), but it's quite common for ad scripts on sketchy sites - and some legitimate ones who don't watch their ad providers carefully enough - to target browsers, especially Chrome (not because it's particularly insecure but just because it's so common). Clear the browser's cache, clear cookies, and see whether that's enough to fix it.

Notifications aren't viruses. Even taking over your home screen isn't a virus. The technical term is malware.
