Pixel 2 XL: How To Hard Reset / Restore Factory Settings

If your Pixel 2 XL is misbehaving or you want to sell it to someone, a factory reset will erase everything and start from scratch. Before you do a factory reset, make sure all personal media is backed up. From there, follow these steps:

1. Go to Settings > System
2. Select Reset
3. Select Factory data reset
4. Tap RESET PHONE
5. Enter password
6. Tap Erase everything

Someone has hacked into my phone I've done this several times also setting up a new Gmail account. I've also factory data reset the phone by volume down & power button & can't get rid of them any suggestions?
