Play Xbox or PS3 on laptop screen

Hey,

Is it possible to play the xbox or ps3 on my laptop screen?

If so, is it quite easy?

The reason I ask is that my daughter and I have had to stay at my parents house for a couple of nights and they only have one spare TV with HDMI, meaning only one of us can play. So was going to hook one of the consoles up to a laptop

To the best of my knowledge, no you can not. The HDMI port on the side of the laptop is an Output port just like the ones on the PS3 and Xbox.

Yeah, laptop ports are typically out only. I believe you can do it with an external capture card though; they are little units that have some variant of video/sound input ports and relay that to the PC via USB.

Of course you'd probably have to order that kind of thing online, so that might not be helpful this time.
