I believe that Quicktime handles a number of different formats, what format are you asking about? (mp3, wav, m4a, ....) Knowing which phone, and Android version might also help.
What have you tried?
I just plug the device into my PC and drag&drop mp3 files to the device. The default music player and Winamp found and played the files just fine. This worked on Samsung phone & tablet, and LG phone.
