Lurker
my android music playlists keep getting deleted when i reboot my phone or mount my sd card. does anyone know where android playlists are stored so i can back them up before i lose them?

The stock Music app copies the playlist into some internal database. You can make the .m3u on the PC and xfer them to the sdcard, where the Music app will find them and make its own copy.

thanks actually thats what ive been doing and its been working fine the m3u's i place on the sd card dont get deleted, but i like to modify playlists on the go occasionally so it would be good if i could use astro to copy the m3u from the internal storage over to the sd when i make changes so that i dont lose them. i suppose its not a big deal, just kind of annoying that the media player is so buggy...

Try out my app BlueMuze for editing playlists in the internal DB, not sure what exactly you're looking to do but it offers a lot more features than the default playlist editor. (plus you can send music over bluetooth to other people, which is the real purpose of the app).

/shameless plug, sorry :) think it would help you though.

I FOUND A SOLUTION
i have the exact same problem with my samsung galaxy 3s, with the software 4.1.2. the playlists content disapears all the time.
what helped on my phone was to make a backup on your pc, from the phones and SD-cards memory, then format your phone (both phone card) PROBLEM FIXED. I know it takes some time to restore everything, i recommend that you install "backup and restore" and "playlist backup" on your phone and make a backup on your apps and playlist. good luck

PS. install only the apps that you need (it could be an app that did made the bug)
PPS. if you can use another music player than the default one, that could also prevent the bug, i am using "Now Playing"
