Playlists get deleted

Hi all,

I have searched this forum and the web but can't find a definite answer.

I sync music to my device with Winamp and it creates a playlist m3u file in the root of the Music folder. When I unmount it however and it does its media scan it seems to be deleting the m3u file? I have also copied the file to various locations, it still finds the file and deletes it? What gives? I'm running Android 2.2.1

Thanks!

Ok, so I manage to get a playlist file into another dir on where it wasn't deleted (it still deletes it from the music root dir and playlist dir. The playlist shows up in Music and Winamp but there is no songs inside?

What should the dir structure in the playlist file look like? Is it ok if I sync the music into Albumartist/Album dirs?

Any help would be appreciated thanks.

I think there may be some sort of a bug... I'm using Poweramp and my playlists get deleted on random occasions. I have yet to pinpoint anything that triggers the deletes. I have my playlists in a separate folder on my external sd card, I had them in the same folder as the music and they deleted from there also.

I've had this problem before, it's a stupid issue where a file called ".nomedia" is indexed in the folder you're playlist is in, which causes the folder not to show up in any media library. What you've got to do is simply delete the file. However, first you've gotta find where that .nomedia file is.

I recommend downloading ASTRO file manager, which allows you to search for hidden files such as the .nomedia one. Use the file search function to find the .nomedia file, and delete it, in whatever folders it may be in. This should solve the issue, it did for me.

What happened with me is that I had noticed that both all my Pictures in the Gallery and all my playlists in PowerAMP wouldn't show up, despite the fact that the files themselves were still there. The problem was that the .nomedia was created in some of my folders that housed the files. I could never find the .nomedia file manually, so that's why I suggest getting ASTRO and searching up ".nomedia" and deleting it in whatever folders it shows. Good Luck.

I FOUND A SOLUTION
i have the exact same problem with my samsung galaxy 3s, with the software 4.1.2. the playlists content disapears all the time.
what helped on my phone was to make a backup on your pc, from the phones and SD-cards memory, then format your phone (both phone card) PROBLEM FIXED. I know it takes some time to restore everything, i recommend that you install "backup and restore" and "playlist backup" on your phone and make a backup on your apps and playlist. good luck

PS. install only the apps that you need (it could be an app that did made the bug)
PPS. if you can use another music player than the default one, that could also prevent the bug, i am using "Now Playing"
