It's not a pixel, it's much bigger than that. Looks like a dead section of the screen.

It probably won't spread. At any rate I've seen phones with similar looking damage after a fall which remained the same for a couple of years.

There's nothing you can do apart from get it repaired or live with it.

That's definitely a screen fault, impact must have done it. There's nothing you can do to fix that, screen needs replacing. If it doesn't get any worse, IMO could probably live with it as it's a tiny spot in the corner, and not in the middle.

Thanks for the reply. I heard rumors about dead pixels spreading throughout the whole screen. I dont see a crack on the part of the phone where the black spot is.

There is no crack on the screen how can it be a screen fault

First thing, it's not an LCD, those are usually made of glass which can crack. It's an AMOLED screen on the S6 Edge, which uses a flexible plastic film construction, that's how it's able to have the curved edges. Which basically means the AMOLED itself won't crack, because it's not glass. However hard impact and shock could certainly cause problems with it. And there's nothing can be done, apart from either replacing it or live with it. Replacement screen is likely to be around $300, give or take.

The glass cover isn't damaged, but the display panel under it is. You often get it the other way round, or both together, but this is quite possible, and as I say I've seen it before.

And I cannot guarantee it won't spread, just saying that the damage I've seen that most resembles that did not. Spreading would depend on the nature of the damage (cracked glass and liquid damage tend to spread) and perhaps the display technology.

It could conceivably be that a connector is damaged or dislodged rather than the panel being damaged, but the effect being localised in one corner is what I'd expect for damage to the display rather than a connection problem.

Hey man. Thanks for your response. Really really helped. For a sec i thought this was a pixel damage whatsoever. Really hope it wont spread though or get any bigger cause cant afford to buy a new screen.

It probably won't spread but it is multiple pixels, not just one. If you have phone insurance, I'd recommend breaking it out now.

Since your phone is not a year old you can send to samsung they will fix it for free because the phone has a year warranty and if they do charge you it's $79.99 to repair

Sections of dead screens like what appears in the picture of the OP is usually a sign of physical damage. The type of damage that appears in the image does not happen by itself. An impact of some kind is usually needed to cause that type of screen glitch, be it a slight hit at just the right angle or a nasty drop on the floor. Since the manufacture warranty will only cover factory defects/(non-root)system issues then more than likely they will charge you for repairing the screen. Either way, it will still come out much cheaper than customer making an insurance claim for physical damage (insurance usually charges about $200 for replacing a flagship smartphone), so like the posters above I'd recommend contacting Samsung first for repair options.

The original post says that. I trust you weren't advocating dishonesty?

(Anyway, I would expect that they'd know what causes that particular type of damage)
You dropped it a week before you noticed the pixel out amoled display is oled and oled is known to have pixel problems
