Help please help make WiFi tethering work ...

I have a LG v495 - LG G Pad F 8.0 LTE official factory unlocked on Android 5.0.2

I want to let my laptops WiFi tether via it but I can't get that to work :/

I do see it's possible in the official AT&T app

but it's reporting that I do not have an AT&T SIM card
as I am traveling and have another SIM card

so I've tried a dozen applications to no avail (list bellow)...

anyone any advice please?

I found this official LG page:

but I do not have this "Mobile Hotspot" in apps

then there is also an official "Q pair" app - but it want to pair up with another phone to give them internet ...

but chickened out of an install - permissions looked questionable to say the least "reading/modifying my SD card" could be a Trojan ..

Even though it's unlocked, did AT&T supply this phone in the first place, and has it got their customized firmware? Could be why it doesn't have the hotspot item, AT&T disabled or removed it.

If you can't make FoxFi work, which is the one often recommended on AF. Possibly see about flashing generic non-carrier firmware.

as far as I know it was all legit - ordered from amazon.com for AT&T .. carrier unlocked

if i will use AT&T SIM card I think the WiFi feature will work

but I am traveling now

I have an LG, not sure if that qualifies me as an expert

Best I can tell is that the device is designed to work with AT&T or US Cellular, which is why it won't tether without an AT&T SIM.

If it's been unlocked, from the information I can find, it's not been factory unlocked, it's been done elsewhere.
