Please Help Me Sort This Out ("Unlimited" question)

Jomero

Newbie
I have been trying to find a straight answer to this question, but I am finding conflicting responses everywhere.

Here is my sitiuation: I have been on a 3G unlimited data plan (with a 3G phone) for a couple years (so I am grandfathered in). However, my "upgrade" became available last month and I have been personally waiting for the Galaxy Nexus to arrive before using it.

What will happen to my unlimited plan if I upgrade to this phone? This where answers seem to get murky.

Some say nothing will happen. Some say something will happen.

My concern is this: If my unlimited plan is 3G, does that mean if I want to use the 4G capability of the phone I have to accept their tiered plan?

Please help me sort this out. I don't want to get bamboozled or forced into a plan I don't need to be.

Thanks in advance!

That is my understanding as well. Customers are grandfathered in indefinitely (as of now), and you aren't forced to downgrade from an unlimited plan. I suspect that after a year or two of this, they'll quietly changed the policy so that everyone has to switch. Until then, you should be safe.
