PLEASE HELP! Update encrypted my phone and I don't have a screen lock password.

An update encrypted my phone. It restarted and is now asking for a screen lock password. I never set up a screen lock password so I have no idea what to put there. If I don't get the password right it will wipe my phone. I REALLY don't want to lose all of my data (so many pictures from recent vacation and random other stuff). I don't want to lose anything!!

Could you provide more details as to what happened? This is a very unlikely situation as updates typically apply to the operating system or to apps individually while encryption is something that involves the file system. Was this an OTA system update or one you were applying manually? Or an app update?
