I just got this tablet from a friend for my 10-year-old. It connects to wifi and has a strong signal but if I connect to youtube or anything it drops the signal. Any idea on how to fix this?
Thanks In Advance

I'm pretty sure these carrier tablets are setup to use a Verizon proxy to access the Internet. And unless it has an active account associated with it, it just gets booted out basically.

What can do about it, don't know, except possibly trying to get it unlocked. This is basically a Chinese tablet, but custom made for Verizon. I guess it has some sort of subsidy lock.

Unless the tablets are treated differently than the phones, I doubt that is the problem. My old S4 works fine on WiFi.

I know in the past, with devices supplied by certain US carriers, they haven't been able to get online, even on WiFi. And it's due to the device being configured to go through a carrier's proxy, which won't work unless it has a current active contract with that carrier. I believe they call it Master Subsidy Lock (MSL). and if you want to release and unlock it, you have to get a code from the carrier. And to me, Verizon is notorious from reading many posts on here. FYI :thumbsupdroid:http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=100

Unless of course the Ellipsis itself is just acting funky or it actually has a hardware fault. OP @candy74 could try factory resetting it. And if that doesn't clear the problem, then it's almost certainly something more serious.

I realize this is an old Post, but wanted to update the info, to help others, since the provided information is wrong. First off, Verizon devices are always unlocked. The unlock code is always 000000. Also, if your tablet is having trouble staying connected, turn off bluetooth. and disable your data. Also, try connecting to the 2.4 ghz band, instead of the 5.0 ghz, as the range is much longer, and its compatible with all devices. Lastly, update the device firmware.

Thanks everyone for the replies, still not able to stay connected. I guess it's time to trash this tablet and buy another.

Stay away from VZW if you don't want as many issues.. They're asshats and their service/PR is crap. They even lock down devices meant for development.. That's like buying a new 5 speed race car and top speed restricted to 50MPH, Lol
