Please help with connection issue

I have a new pioneer 8100nex, and using a Droid turbo2. I just got this stereo installed recently, the android auto wouldnt work, the installer said I needed to download updates.

I did that, and the whole time absolutely nothing happens when I plug my phone in with the USB, but it does charge my phone. I've tried 3 different USB cords, including the $50 pioneer.

Out of the blue, one of the cords worked and it was glorious, but short lived as 2 days later, it quit working. It was right before the marshmellow update, so I downloaded the marshmellow to my phone, but still nothing happens when I plug the USB into the phone.

I've tried the debugging, I am 100% positive I'm using USB2 on the back of the stereo. That it worked temporarily leads me to believe maybe a setting that I'm unaware of? If anyone has an idea, please let me know, this is driving me bananas trying to get it to work, and Pioneer is absolutely no help. Thankyou so much in advance.

I had a similar problem with my nexus 6 and my 2016 Silverado. USB ports kept not working for the data. Recent update to and. auto and I seem to be ok, on occasion it seems to not want to work.

Jessica,

I have the same unit without GPS (4200NEX) and was curious if you are able to get the head unit to actually display apps like the iPhone does? I have been successful in getting the HU to sync with the Droid Turbo but can't display apps. I can via voice commands control music, GPS, and incoming and outgoing SMS, but nothing else. I'm hoping I have something cabled incorrectly and I can eventually get the HU to display as advertised. Thanks! Tim
